Important compliance note
As of May 1, 2023, the National Construction Code (NCC) implemented the provisions outlined in AS1288:2021 Glass in Buildings – Selection and Installation, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
Key changes to Section 7 of AS1288:2021:
- Laminated glass must be used for balustrades 5 metres or more above the ground, as outlined in Section 7.4.1.
- For balustrades under 5 metres, monolithic toughened glass may be used if the provisions of Section 7.4.5 are satisfied.
